Jarvus Ricardo Hester

Jarvus Ricardo Hester is a classically trained opera singer, educator, and arts leader whose work bridges the worlds of classical music, gospel, and community-based youth development.

He is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he received formal conservatory training in classical voice and operatic performance. His foundation in technique, stagecraft, and vocal discipline has shaped a versatile career spanning opera stages, concert halls, and faith-based music communities.

As a performer, Jarvus has worked with and appeared alongside leading opera companies including Orlando Opera, Piedmont Opera, and Harlem Opera Theater, where he most recently performed a leading role in Mark Fax “A Christmas Carol”. His stage experience reflects a deep commitment to storytelling through music and theatrical expression.

Beyond classical performance, Jarvus has built a strong presence in gospel and contemporary sacred music, collaborating with a wide range of acclaimed artists and ministers, including Grammy award winner Dave Hollister, Dove award winner Dewayne Woods, New Direction, Bishop Larry Trotter, Clint Brown, Joshua’s Truth, Martha Munizzi, and Lemmie Battles, among others. These collaborations reflect his ability to move fluidly between genres while remaining rooted in musical excellence and spiritual expression.

His work today extends beyond performance into education and cultural leadership. As founder of the Harlem Collective’s music and youth development initiatives, Jarvus is committed to training the next generation of young artists through disciplined instruction, mentorship, and access to real performance opportunities.

At the core of his work is a single mission: to use music as a tool for discipline, identity, and transformation—helping young people find their voice and develop the confidence to use it.
