Our Passion is Music!
ABOUT US
A Vision Rooted in Harlem. A Mission Built for the City.
The Harlem Collective was born from a simple but urgent belief:
that music, mentorship, and faith can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
Founded by Jarvus Ricardo Hester, the work began not as an institution, but as a commitment—to create access where there was none, to build structure where it was needed, and to use the power of music as both a discipline and a doorway.
What started as a focus on musical excellence quickly revealed something deeper. Families didn’t just need training—they needed support. Young people didn’t just need opportunities—they needed guidance, consistency, and community.
So the vision expanded.
From Music Training to Youth Development
The Harlem Collective evolved into a multi-program initiative serving young people and families through:
- Music education and performance training
- After-school programming and academic support
- Summer enrichment and cultural exposure
Each program was built with intention—combining structure, creativity, and care to develop not just talent, but character.
Rooted in Harlem, our work reflects the cultural richness, resilience, and legacy of the community we serve.
A Faith-Grounded Partnership
As the work grew, so did the understanding that sustainable impact requires strong spiritual and community foundations.
This led to a natural and powerful partnership with Seventh-day Adventist churches across New York City.
Together, we are building something unprecedented:
A citywide network that unites churches, artists, youth, and families through music, the Word, and service.
Guided by the shared theme:
“Heal Our Land: A City in Prayer, Music, and Unity”
—2 Chronicles 7:14
This partnership is not transactional—it is mission-driven.
Churches provide spiritual leadership, community trust, and space for activation.
We provide artistic programming, youth development infrastructure, and global media reach.
Music + The Word
At the heart of our work is a simple truth:
Music can open the heart—but the Word transforms the life.
Through our integrated platform—including Mood Magazine, Mood Radio, and Mood TV—we create a continuous experience where:
- Music brings calm, focus, and emotional grounding
- The Word provides guidance, strength, and spiritual growth
This allows ministry to extend beyond Sabbath services—reaching people daily, wherever they are.
Building a Citywide Movement
In partnership with churches across all five boroughs, the Harlem Collective is developing a living network of:
- Church-based residencies and performances
- Youth training and leadership pipelines
- Citywide civic and cultural events
- Global devotional and media distribution
From local congregations to international audiences, the goal is the same:
To connect people to purpose, to faith, and to community.
Our Commitment
We are committed to:
- Developing disciplined, confident, and creative young people
- Supporting families with accessible, high-quality programming
- Strengthening churches through meaningful partnership
- Using media and music as tools for spiritual and cultural impact
This is more than a program.
It is a movement grounded in faith, built through community, and carried forward by the next generation.
Looking Forward
What began in Harlem is now expanding across New York City—and beyond.
We believe the future of our communities depends on what we build today:
Spaces where young people are seen, supported, and challenged to grow.
Churches that are active, connected, and globally visible.
And a city unified through purpose, prayer, and creative expression.

Your Career in Music Starts Here
YOUR CAREER STARTS HERE
Find Your Voice. Build Your Path. Step Into Your Purpose.
Every artist starts somewhere.
For many, that beginning is uncertainty—raw talent without direction, passion without structure, and potential without opportunity.
We exist to change that.
At Harlem Collective, we don’t just train performers—we develop disciplined, confident, and prepared young artists who understand both their craft and their purpose.
More Than Talent—Training That Prepares You
A career in music isn’t built on talent alone. It requires consistency, technique, and the ability to grow under guidance.
Our programs are designed to give you:
Strong vocal and instrumental foundations
Real understanding of music theory and performance
Discipline and rehearsal structure
Confidence on stage and in life
Whether you’re stepping into music for the first time or ready to refine your skill, we meet you where you are—and push you forward.
Real Opportunities. Real Experience.
We believe learning should lead somewhere.
That’s why students have access to:
Live performances and recitals
Church-based music ministry opportunities
Citywide events and festivals
Collaborative productions with professional artists
You won’t just practice—you’ll perform, grow, and be seen.
A Pipeline, Not a Program
This is not a one-time experience.
It’s a pathway.
Students can grow through multiple levels of training, leadership, and performance—building skills that extend into college, careers, and lifelong creative expression.
Along the way, you gain more than experience:
You gain discipline, community, and direction.
Rooted in Purpose
Our work is grounded in faith, mentorship, and cultural identity.
We believe your voice is more than sound—it’s a tool for impact.
Here, you’ll learn not only how to perform, but how to carry yourself with purpose, responsibility, and confidence.
Start Where You Are
You don’t need perfect training.
You don’t need experience.
You just need the willingness to begin.
We’ll help you take it from there.
